Day 7: After a week or so, you should be able to do light housework or other activities, if you feel well enough. We do recommend a longer period of time off work is taken. Some patients choose to return to work at this time, but many wait for most of the swelling to go down (about 2 weeks). Sudden movements, extreme sports, or hitting your head can cause bleeding, please avoid this and seek medical assistance if required.
Week 2: You may have been sleeping upright to help with the sweeling, after 2 weeks you can continue to sleep on your side but avoid sleeping on your stomach for an extended period of time.
Month 1: Typically, after 30 days, you should be back to your regular routine. We highly recommend not to jump straight back into high intensity exercise, as it is not ideal and may cause a shock to the system. Keep the heart rate at a good pace, by doing some light walking.
Month 3–4: During the first three or four months after surgery, stay out of the sun and apply sunscreen.
Month 6: You should be able to resume all activity at this point. Some people tend to notice some minor swelling, bruising, tightness, and even numbness for up to a year, though this is not recognisable to the naked eye of others.
